Acer announces the new Aspire 1640 and 1650 series

Reliable Performance
Both the Acer Aspire 1640 and 1650 models are based on Intel® Centrino™ Mobile Technology and take full advantage of its more advanced components: Intel® Pentium® M processors with 2MB Cache L2 and Intel® 915GM/PM Express chipset with 533MHz System Bus.
With Hard Disk capacity of up to 100GB and standard system memory of up to 1GB DDR2, upgradeable to 2GB, and a choice of DVD-Dual double-layer drive or DVD/CD-RW combo drive, the Aspire 1640 and 1650 series offer all the room you need to store your personal and professional data.
Reliability and long-lasting power. The Aspire 1640 allows up to 5 hours[1] battery life allowing users to fully enjoy the freedom of true portability.
Wireless connectivity
Integrating the Centrino platform, that features the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG network connection for Wireless connections based on IEEE 802.11b/g standard, the Aspire 1640 and 1650 series are fully wireless-ready. Multimedia capabilities
The Acer Aspire 1640 and 1650 series express their multimedia potential through excellent graphics and a choice of bright displays. Graphic output of the Aspire 1640 series is managed by the Intel® 915GM integrated 3D graphics, featuring Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 and up to 128 MB of shared memory while the Aspire 1650 features the powerful ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X300 with 64/128 MB of VRAM and ATI POWERPLAY™ 5.0, Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0, PCI Express® and DualView™ support.
These multi-tasking multimedia notebooks offer a choice of 15.4" WXGA colour TFT LCD, with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution featuring Acer CrystalBrite technology, or 15" XGA colour TFT LCD, with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, and guarantee a stunningly versatile entertainment experience thanks to the exclusive Aspire Arcade suite which provides access to the most popular digital functions even when the PC is turned off. In addition, Acer CinemaVision™ and Acer ClearVision™ minimize picture distortion for a richer, smoother cinematic experience: Video DVD playing on the wide screen has never been so comfortable. The Acer Aspire 1640 and 1650 notebooks come with Microsoft® Windows® XP Home or Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional preinstalled. Both series also feature a range of additional software including Acer Arcade, Acer Empowering Technology, Acer GridVista (on widescreen models only) and utilities such Norton Antivirus®, which can be updated directly over the Internet, PowerDVD and NTI CD Maker™.
The Acer Aspire 1640 and 1650 series come with a standard 1 year Carry–In Warranty (International Travellers Warranty - ITW) which can be extended to 3-year cover with the AcerAdvantage NewEdition service that also covers accidental damage to the notebook.
