New line-up offers a novel smart experience geared to young consumers
London, 29th January 2020 – Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) today announced the launch of its new HUAWEI MateBook D 14 (2020) and MateBook D 15 (2020) laptops. The latest 14 inch and 15.6-inch Huawei devices introduce a revolutionary cross-platform experience that allows users to seamlessly work with multiple devices through a single pane of glass. The new HUAWEI MateBook D Series inherits the DNA of Huawei’s PC range, which is expressed in its aesthetic design, innovative technology and the smart experience that it delivers. On top of its lightweight chassis, FullView display, powerful performance, robust build quality and chic design, the latest HUAWEI MateBook D Series comes with a range of new features including support for multi-screen Collaboration.
The new line-up of MateBook D Series forms part of Huawei announcing its 2020 vision to bring digital to every person, home and organisation for a fully connected, intelligent world. In 2020, Huawei will continue to launch new smartphones with Huawei Mobile Services, offering consumers more choice and the smartphone experience of the future. As the company continues to accelerate innovation beyond smartphones, Huawei will launch a new portfolio of products including the MateBook D Series which will work seamlessly and intelligently together with the world around them, in one ecosystem powered by Huawei Mobile Services, 5G and seamless AI.

The Authentic FullView Display
The ultra-slim laptop market is experiencing rapid growth. Always pursuing design perfection, Huawei leaned on its expertise in smartphone technology and system integration capabilities to realise the ultra-slim bezel design on its FullView displays. This design approach lets Huawei pack a large display into a portable chassis and offer the best of both worlds.
In line with the rest of the MateBook family, the HUAWEI MateBook D (2020) Series comes with a FullView display. Measuring at just 4.8mm for the 14” and 5.3mm for the 15.6” model, three ultra-thin bezels frame the displays, resulting in an outstanding 84 per cent and 87 per cent screen-to-body ratios respectively. The lightweight chassis is accentuated by a streamlined design with curved edges to produce a sleeker look. The small enhancements – such as the thinner bezels and recessed camera – allow Huawei to further shrink the form factor of the laptop. With dimensions measuring at just 357.8×229.9×16.9mm (15.6”) and 322.5mm x214.8mm x15.9mm (14”), the new HUAWEI MateBook D Series is one of the smallest and lightest laptops for their screen size in the same price band to date, offering a wide viewing experience in a portable package.
Underneath the anti-glare coating, the new MateBook D Series’ 16:9 IPS panels supports a Full HD (1920×1080) resolution and a maximum opening angle of 178 degrees. The premium display is perfectly suited for any content, whether it is a high-resolution image or a Blu-ray video. The panels on the new HUAWEI MateBook D Series has also been TÜV Rheinland certified for low blue light emission, allowing for better eye protection.
Powerful Processor Offers Solid Performance
Young consumers see in PCs not just a tool that lets them work, but a platform that lets them have fun as well. The HUAWEI MateBook D Series AMD Edition is powered by a 12nm AMD Ryzen™ 5 3500U mobile processor to deliver a powerful performance while retaining a high level of stability and reliability. For GPU, the AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics embedded in the laptop provides outstanding graphics processing support. The Series also includes a new version of the HUAWEI Shark Fin Fan. With the new s-shaped fan blades, HUAWEI Shark Fin Fan 2.0 optimises air flow dynamically for improved cooling and laptop performance.
A portable, multi-purpose 65W USB-C charger and a USB-C to USB-C cable is included. The charger supports all Huawei smartphones and tablets that are equipped with a USB-C port. It also features overheat protection, which automatically stops the charging process once the temperature crosses a threshold to ensure safety.
Equipped with 8GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory, the new HUAWEI MateBook D Series has enough memory to handle most high load apps on the market. The solid-state drive (SSD) in the new laptops are connected to the mainboard via the high speed PCIe interface. The MateBook D 14 (2020) comes with 512GB of storage, whilst the MateBook D 15 (2020) comes with 256GB of storage. The dual-antenna WLAN module effectively receives WLAN signal for enhanced connection speed and stability. On the side, a diverse selection of interfaces can support multiple I/O needs simultaneously, including data transfer, peripheral connection and battery charging.
Smart Connection Made Easy
In November 2018, Huawei launched HUAWEI OneHop, enabling users to easily transfer files including images and videos between smartphones and PCs. The solution revolutionised the way users move files between Windows and Android devices by addressing the challenges of cross-platform file transfers.
The latest HUAWEI MateBook D Series introduces a new set of -screen Collaboration capabilities that are built upon the foundations of HUAWEI OneHop. The new features enable the HUAWEI MateBook and a Huawei smartphone to share a single display, in which users can drag files from one user interface to the other to transfer files, and view the contents saved in the smartphone directly on the laptop. Peripherals connected to the laptop can also be used to navigate the smartphone, giving the laptop users seamless access to the mobile apps without switching device.
Positioned as a series targeting young consumers, the HUAWEI MateBook D Series is a reflection of premium aesthetic designs, innovative technologies and cutting-edge smart experiences. On one hand, it offers a quality user experience in a compact form factor. On the other, it pushes the envelope of what ultralight laptops can deliver and complements Huawei’s overall PC product portfolio. In the future, Huawei will continue to bolster its PC product lines to further democratise the all-scenario, smart digital experience for the benefit of more consumers.

The new Huawei MateBook D series will launch on 21st February, available from selected retailers:
- Huawei MateBook D 14 (2020), Space Grey, 512GB storage - £649.99 RRP
- Huawei MateBook D 15 (2020), Space Grey, 256GB storage - £599.99 RRP
Customers will also be able to pre-order both laptops from selected retailer, from 13th February to 20th February. Customers who pre-order will also receive a free pair of Huawei FreeBuds 3 (White).
