The PR Room to work with the PC Association
‘Mature industries have trade associations, and responsible businesses join them’
Warwick, England, 12 Oct 2005
The PR Room Ltd is pleased to announce that they have been appointed the PC Association’s UK PR representatives. The relationship is a result of a drive from the PC Association to inform and educate the media, consumers and businesses alike about the non-profit trade association’s services and benefits and to ensure that they are kept up to date with important industry regulations.
The Professional Computing Association (“PCA” or “PC Association”) was originally incorporated in May 1993 as the Personal Computer Direct Marketers Association Ltd but was renamed in 2003. The PCA’s brief is to promote the best interests of its members, providing services that are useful to them. Membership is open to businesses and individuals active in all parts of the IT marketplace and channel, its current membership has a joint turnover in excess of £50 billion. Members include large, multi-national organisations as well as micro-businesses – this latter being the largest sub-group among the membership which includes vendors, distributors, retailers, resellers, system builders, leading publishers, buying groups & finance organisations.
Members of the PC Association benefit from regular news and trade information that is seldom covered through conventional news sources, Government representation both at a UK and EU level, and lobbying on various issues such as the Consumer Guarantees Directive and the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations. Information on key issues passes to members through regular meetings which provide valuable opportunity to network within the industry's own forum. In addition the PCA gives informal legal advice to members and acts as a voice for the industry on a variety of competition, trading and legislative issues.
PCA Members and their customers have the comfort of knowing that the Association will assist them if they have a problem, as their dealings are covered by an agreed industry code of practice. Such companies can be identified by the PCA “Confidence Assured” logo.
‘We are delighted to be working along side the PC Association, which has been an invaluable resource for companies in the IT industry for some time’, says Sarah Chard, Managing Director, The PR Room Ltd. ‘We think it is important that the PC Association have a presence in the UK Media as they are the voice of so many’.
Keith Warburton, Executive Director of the PCA said “We’re so busy doing things for our members that sometimes we’ve neglected to blow our own trumpet – we look forward to benefiting from the expertise of the PR Room as they address that issue.”
