July 11th, 2003 – (Lake Forest, CA) DigitalScape today announced its collaboration with Workstation Platform leader IWILL Corporation and with a number of Special Effects Studios in the production of Warner Bros, C-2 Pictures and Intermedia blockbuster film, “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”.
One of the visual effects studios, Digiscope, used DigitalScape Visual Computing Workstations to composite scenes of the Terminator characters and T-X “Skynet designed” cyborgs. Digiscope took advantage of the Dual Processing capability of Intel® Xeon processors with Hyper-Threading technology to reduce the amount of time required to enhance visual effects through the compositing process required during final editing process of the entire film. Compositing is an often processor, graphics and memory demanding process required to enhance color, shades, visual lighting and special effects in the last stages of film editing.
“For Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Digiscope provided digital artistry in the form of compositing, “ says Dion Hatch, Chief Operating Officer of Digiscope. “We are a user of DigitalScape Visual Computing Workstations, based on Iwill motherboard technology. These systems give us the performance and service that we need to get our job done. When it comes to speed and performance, the DigitalScape workstations provide the power to get us thru processor and graphics intensive scenes”.
“We are proud to support Digiscope and their effort of Terminator 3”, says Bruce Faust, CEO and co-founder of DigitalScape. “For years we have provided a number of Visual Computing Workstations and Render Nodes using Iwill based Technologies. This is another fine example of how the partnership works to create the effects for such stunning and seamless FX scenes”.
“We are proud to support DigitalScape in their efforts to build the Ultimate Visual Computing Workstation” said Adam Chou, GM of Iwill USA Corp. “Iwill based workstations offer customers unparalleled performance by pushing the limits of extended bandwidth, higher headroom and the performance-enhancing features of Intel® NetBurst™ microarchitecture and Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology. By taking full advantage of dual Intel® Xeon™ processors, a 533MHz system bus, and Dual DDR memory interfaces; DigitalScape clients can clearly ANIMATE, EDIT, and RENDER faster than ever.”
DigitalScape and IWILL have teamed up to work with other leading FX studios such as Digital Domain, Pacific Title, Dreamworks, Sony Imageworks, Grey Matter FX, Rhythm & Hues, Creo Filmworks, Stan Winston Studios and others in many of this summers current and upcoming features.
