PRESS RELEASE
Limited edition graphics card features hybrid air and liquid cooling plus dual GPU power for the fastest gaming and overclocking
London, England (26 February, 2013) - ASUS ROG today announced that the limited edition ARES II graphics card helped world-famous overclocking team OCLab.ru establish an all-new 3DMark03 world record of 283017 marks. ARES II uses dual RadeonTM HD 7970 GHz Edition GPUs on one PCB, and features a proprietary hybrid thermal architecture. This ASUS ROG development integrates a liquid cooling block and dual dust-proof fans, lowering temperatures by a remarkable 31°C compared to a reference GTX 690 graphics card. ARES II further employs 20-phase power delivery, optimized for overclocking by DIGI+ VRM digital voltage controls and heavy-duty Super Alloy Power components. For easy card tuning, it includes user-friendly GPU Tweak.
All-new 3DMark03 record: 283017 marks
Using ARES II, renowned overclockers Smoke, slamms, and 12 of OCLab.ru fame have established the highest 3DMark03 score ever. At 283017 marks, they have exceeded the previous milestone in the classic Futuremark® utility by 8103 marks (the former record was 274914). The setup for the achievement included two ARES II cards in CrossFireXTM (effectively four RadeonTM HD 7970 GHz Edition GPUs), an Ivy Bridge Intel® CoreTM i7-3770K CPU, and an ROG Maximus V Extreme motherboard with 8GB DDR3 memory. The CPU was clocked at 6.711GHz, and the operating system was Windows 7 64-bit.

ARES II: extreme power and hybrid cooling
The 2-slot ARES II features twin RadeonTM HD 7970 GHz Edition GPUs clocked at 1.1GHz. It employs 6GB of GDDR5 set to 6.6GHz. ARES II uses a proprietary hybrid thermal design that incorporates liquid and air cooling, with a liquid cooling/fan block that fits over any 120mm case fan grille for easy assembly. Pipes funnel liquid to dual dust-proof fans placed over each GPU. This innovation leads to 31°C lower temperatures than a reference GTX 690. ARES II is up to 130% faster than a single-GPU reference RadeonTM HD 7970 graphics card.
DIGI+ VRM and Super Alloy Power: driving more accurate overclocking
ARES II features 20-phase power delivery with highly precise DIGI+ VRM digital voltage regulation. This gives overclockers pinpoint voltage-tuning accuracy, making ARES II a formidable world record-setting graphics card. Super Alloy Power components include solid state capacitors, MOSFETs, and concrete-core chokes, all hardened to withstand heat and high-demand applications. With these exclusive ASUS ROG features, ARES II offers reliability and dependability for hardcore overclocking require.
GPU Tweak: making top-flight power accessible
ARES II works with the exclusive GPU Tweak graphics card tuning utility to put its immense power at the disposal of enthusiasts. A clear and direct interface offers extensive clock and fan speed adjustments, voltage modification, and easy creation of power profiles and overall presets for specific games and applications.
AVAILABILITY & PRICING
