Razer wasn't short of new products at this month's CES, and though the company is now looking beyond the mouse in terms of gaming peripherals, it's still showing plenty of love for our pointing devices with the launch of a new, dual-sided mouse mat.

It's dubbed the Vespula, and it promises to be a "lightweight, gaming-grade mouse mat" that offers "the best of both worlds".

How exactly can a mouse mat fulfil two purposes? Well, on the one side, Vespula offers a smooth "Speed Surface" that Razer claims is designed to pick up large, sweeping motions and suits fast-paced action games.

Flip it over, and you're treated to a coarsely-textured "Control Surface", which we're told is favourable for small, ultra-precise movements. Sounds like you'd need the Speed Surface to track down your foe, and the Control Surface to pin point that all-important headshot, though, we don't think mid-game flipping is what's intended here.

Measuring 300mm x 240mm x 4 mm, it's an awesome-looking surface - finished in a matte, anti-reflective, non-slip hard coat and bundled with a gel-filled wrist rest.

Not quite as roomy as Razer's over-sized Goliathus, but if dual surfaces are the answer to your mouse-mat prayers, Razer's Vespula is available now priced at $34.99 / €34.99.

Looks like the razer exact mat…. just with a different style and bundled with a gel pad. Am i right guys? Is it a metal mat? Im back to cloth cause my friend has been teaching me better ways to play css (i play with max sensitivty…) and so im now using high friction/low sensitivity settings and its a lot better.

Control is best side :)
Razer products are just made to look “cool” while giving no “competitive edge” whatsoever. All said in perfect Razer-speak.

and yes hicks, it does look like an exactmat, css is also a low-sensitivity game so your friend is probably doing you well if you want to get better at it.
Looks like more of the same from razer. By that i mean it sure looks pretty though.

Surely there is only so much you can do to a mouse mat.
It's good that it's not as big as some of the other mats surely? I have the mantis speed mat and it's like the size of a 20" monitor, stupidly large, at least half the size of my entire keyboard tray.
Wish I had the spare cash to afford a razer mousemat :ill:
Razer mouse will have to do
