Jeff Braun, the American video game producer and co-founder of the developer, Maxis has confirmed that the next saga in the Oddworld series is currently in development.

Speaking to an audience at Wilfrid Laurier University, Braun said that the next installment will be of a cinematic quality and may come in form of episodic content.

"The rendering tools are getting so good now for 3D animation that you can literally create a linear animation and create a video game using the exact same objects," said Braun. "The tools are finally getting to the level where we can come out with a show and we can come up with a game."

The news of Oddworld's revival comes three years of the development studio, OddWorld Inhabitants decided to can the series and concentrate on making movies.

No further details have been confirmed and Braun says that the game could be 'years' away from release.
