Spring release
Sony have confirmed that the Blu-Ray disc format will be launched in North America on May 23rd.
Upon its release, there will be 8 movies available:
50 First Dates
The Fifth Element
Hitch
House of Flying Daggers
A Knight's Tale
The Last Waltz
Resident Evil Apocalypse
XXX
The following titles will be avaiable on June 13th : Kung Fu Hustle, Legends of the Fall, Robocop, Stealth, Species, SWAT and Terminator joining the original launch titles on the shelves.
Sony plans on releasing these movies for $23.95, with older movies going for around $17.95. Depending on which retail you shop at for these movies, the prices will of course vary.
The Playstation 3 hopes to drive the sales of Blu-Ray discs when it is launched later this year, the Spring announcement confirms that the PS3 may well be heading for a summer/autumn launch.
