Gigs of RAM, that is. Corsair's very flashy XMS Xpert memory is now available in 1GiB PC3200 modules, meaning a dual channel setup will stretch to that lovely figure for system memory at the moment: 2GiB.

Xpert 2GiB set

It was over a year ago that we first took a look at Corsair's Xpert RAM. For those not familiar with it, the RAM features a number of segmented LED displays atop the module, which can be configured to display various things, such as RAM speed, temperatures, or custom messages.

Essentially these models are for those of you who like to show off your hardware. It seems fitting, then, to add 1GiB modules to the line-up, given that 2GiBs in dual channel mode is the sweet spot enthusiasts seem to aim for now (come on, 1GiB is practically mainstream!)

Certified to run at DDR400 with timings of 2-3-3-6, they should run pretty nippy, aside from the benefit of the memory density. Of course, some of you might dabble with overclocking them. Under the hood the modules aren't likely to be far removed from Corsair's other 1GiB products.

So, Xpert is setup for 2006, for DDR1 at least. Just make sure your PC has a window mod...

I know I shouldn't want the 2GiB TwinX of this (I already run the smaller kit released last year, along with some other stuff), but I do.

2 x 1GiB of flashy goodness to replace my 4 x 512MiB setup in my workstation……*saves up pennies, needlessly* :D
I hope you enjoy them, but personally I never could see the point - it's like the Connection Machines. Sure the LEDs are for “diagnostics”. Of course they are. We believe you; the fact that they can be programmed to show pretty patterns is just accidental… :) Good for people with case windows, and I'm sure the memory'll be good quality, it's just a sizeable premium for pretty lights :).
