European vendors are short of supplies of AMD's rather tasteful socket 939 Opteron 144 and 146 processors, except for - so a little bird tells us - SCAN International.
The 1.8GHz Opteron 144 and 2.0GHz Opteron 146 have a 1000MHz HyperTransport bus and a Socket 939 pin-out. They operate in the region of 1.35-1.4V, with around 67W of power consumed at stock speeds. Where these puppies come into their own, though, is when you overclock them.
Anyhoo, getting hold of the things can be an issue, but SCAN apparently has ample stock of the chips. So, if you fancy the Opteron 144 for £90.00 or the Opteron 146 for £101.64, then you know where to get them. Interestingly, SCAN's pages have "super overclockable" atop the product descriptions... I wonder who they're targeting with that message, then?
Go forth and clock ones pants off!
