VIA and Advanced Validation Labs Launch JEDEC Standard DDR400 Memory Validation Program

Boosting customer confidence by ensuring complete reliability and compatibility of DDR400 memory modules with VIA chipset platforms

Taipei, Taiwan, Wednesday 13 August 2003 - VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today launched a JEDEC specification DDR400 memory validation program in conjunction with Advanced Validation Labs (AVL) to ensure the highest level of platform level stability and performance on VIA’s full range of DDR400-enabled chipsets for the Intel® Pentium® 4 and AMD Athlon™ XP processor platforms.

The VIA-certified system validation involves the testing of memory modules using VIA's PT800 and KT600 reference platform and bespoke software. The validation test process, co-developed by VIA and AVL, includes thermal testing to further stress memory modules under a demanding set of compatibility tests.

“AVL’s quick-turn validation services ensure compatibility and interoperability of memory modules with high performance VIA DDR400 chipset platforms,” commented Chewei Lin, Vice President of Product Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. “This collaboration with AVL allows us to speed time to market and sustain the confidence of end users eager to upgrade to higher bandwidth memory technologies.”

“AVL is very pleased to play an integral role in VIA’s industry leading DD400 validation program,” stated Larry Ho, Director of Technical Labs, Advanced Validation Labs. “With AVL’s extensive engineering experience and quick-turn validation services, customers will be able to verify that their memory modules have been thoroughly tested with AVL’s comprehensive validation procedure.”
