AMD ANNOUNCES THE AMD ALCHEMY(tm) SOLUTIONS BRAND FOR PERSONAL CONNECTIVITY SOLUTIONS GROUP PRODUCTS

-Brand to encompass Au core processors, wireless technologies, development boards and reference designs kits-


AUSTIN, TX-OCTOBER 21, 2002-AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the AMD Alchemy(tm) Solutions brand name for the Personal Connectivity Solutions (PCS) Group product lines. The brand name builds on the industry-wide recognition of the Alchemy Semiconductor Brand as a leader in high-performance, low-power, high-integration processors for connectivity devices while also communicating the company's emphasis on providing innovative, customer-centric solutions.

"Customers worldwide will associate AMD Alchemy Solutions with a highly integrated approach to technology, a collaborative spirit of innovation and above all, a focus on their needs," said Phil Pompa, AMD's vice president of marketing for PCS. "They know AMD will provide the level of high-integration and performance they need, the power efficiency they must have, and all in the tailored, flexible solutions they require to be successful in today's rapidly evolving technology market."

Products currently offered by PCS include the AMD Alchemy Solutions Au1000(tm), Au1100(tm), and Au1500(tm) low-power, high-performance MIPS(r) technology-based processors, the AMD Alchemy Solutions Pb1000(tm), Pb1100(tm), and Pb1500(tm) development platforms, and the AMD Alchemy Solutions Mobile Client Reference Design Kit.

Future wireless local area network (WLAN) technologies will also be part of the AMD Alchemy Solutions family brand when announced.
