The company’s first own-branded tablet is called the Light Tab II and runs on a single core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor clocked at 1.4GHz. It operates on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and sports a 7in 1,024x600 LCD display with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS and an FM radio.
The Light Tab II has 512MB of RAM, 4GB onboard storage (can be expanded to 32GB), a microSD card slot, a micro-USB port, and a 3500mAH battery, which lasts for 5.5 hours. Measuring 12.6mm thick and weighing 402g, it also comes equipped with a three megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front-facing one.
The Light Tab II is priced at £235 and will be available to buy shortly.
"We are very excited about its entry into the market. We plan to continue our progress in the UK, introducing ZTE branded consumer devices with key capabilities at reasonable prices," said ZTE's director of mobile device operations.
He added: "Our UK strategy is very much focused on providing quality devices."
