Most alarming?

Some owners of Apple's iPhone apparently got a late start to the New Year as a glitch with the phone's alarm clock app gave them an unwelcome lie-in.

The popular smartphone's alarm application failed to work for the first 2 days of 2011 leaving owners asleep, with reports of missed appointments and work problems for users, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Apparently iPhone owners who set their alarm for ‘one-time use only' instead of relying on a recurring wake-up alarm were in trouble but it is thought problems only occurred over the New Year's holiday weekend.

As is now usual in such circumstances, many disgruntled people complained via Twitter. One pastor reportedly said: "Dreaded iPhone alarm problem. I guess [I] didn't need to be on time for church?"

Meanwhile in a sign of the times, people with rival smartphones (or just anti-Apple fanboys) apparently took the chance to flaunt their own trusty alarm apps and even bigged-up old fashioned clocks.

An Apple spokesperson told The WSJ: "Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning Jan 3."

It is not really known why the glitch occurred as some iPhone users reportedly had no problems, but it is thought iPhone 4s and models with updated iOS suffered the most problems.

In fact, Reuters reported that the alarm problem was not limited to the iPhone but other Apple products were hit too.

The iPhone's alarm app apparently also struggled to cope with the end of daylight-saving time just a couple of months back, with some users in Europe, the US and Australia affected.

Lucky for Apple it was over a time when most people didn't need to be up for work. They're starting to slip up, tbh.
*clears throat*

HA-HA!!
So… all Apple said was “It's your own fault for not setting a recuring alarm”. Smooth
I made my own binary LED alarm clock, I accidentally got the maths a tiny bit wrong, I noticed when I was running it in the emulator, this was well before I even had started using unit testing!

But then again every time I use Apple stuff I think they spent the QA budget on advertising. Because people tell you explicitly (without knowing what your doing) that its ‘better’ then when you say what you want to do, your looked at like a freak. “Oh pentax sir, well then you need to upgrade to the latest version of the OS to use that file format”…….

But an ex aside who always insisted on buying apple, I mean her wealthy parents buying it for her, until 6 months after I stopped seeing her and she saw the light, might leave me a bit bitter…. But this is just funny.
You'd think out of all the parts of an OS, the clock would be the simplest to get right after a calculator…

You also have to wonder if this problem will ever go away, because not everyone keeps their product up to date and I'll also bet that come the spring it still won't be fixed on all devices
