Happy compromise

It's generally considered unlikely that Apple would approve a version of Mozilla's Firefox browser for reasons already well documented. But Mozilla has found a way of enabling Firefox users to get hold of all their browser data on the iPhone in a way Apple does approve of.

Firefox Home is a free app now available to download from the Apple app store. So long as you're using the Firefox Sync add-on for your desktop Firefox, you can use this app to access all your Firefox bookmarks, history and even currently open tabs either directly from the app itself, or open them in Mobile Safari.

"Firefox Home uses your browser data, securely synced from Firefox on your desktop to the cloud, to let you search and browse quickly and efficiently," said the Mozilla blog announcing the app.

"You can view the sites you want directly in Firefox Home, open them in Mobile Safari or share them with friends via email. Your Firefox data is private and only you have access to it."

There's nothing said about an equivalent app for Android, but then again that might be rendered redundant once the full version of Fennec - Mozilla's mobile browser - is released. Fennec for Android is currently in the pre-alpha phase.

Here's some woman living the Firefox Home dream.
