A night at the Opera

Opera Mobile for Android is due to be released within a month.

As well as being available to all Android versions, the browser will also boast two new features: hardware acceleration and pinch to zoom.

The hardware acceleration feature will allow Opera Mobile to run extra fast. The company promised: "Navigating a page will be faster than ever, and the improvements to the UI will be momentous."

The speediness will be achieved by making ‘full use' of the power available on a phone and will allow a more fluid interaction with the phone as well as improve the browser experience, according to Opera

While the current versions of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini have two levels of zoom - one for the full page width and one for zooming to read text - users will now be able to zoom as much or as little as they like, just like with many other smartphone features and the Opera Desktop.

"Text will now be rendered at a per character level and zooming in will be a fluid zoom from page-width down to the text you want to focus on," said the company.

Whats the difference between opera mobile and opera mini?
Mini is quite crap. It's designed to be fast on low end phones. Opera Mobile was quite awesome on WinMo (only issue was rendering was quite slow - but I don't expect this to be a problem on the android version).
