UK - 10 April 2014 - Microsoft Corp. on Thursday announced that the company will release the latest version of Surface 2, Surface 2 (4G), featuring mobile broadband connectivity in addition to Wi-Fi, in the UK on May 8, allowing more people to stay connected and be even more productive on the go.

Customers can pre-order Surface 2 (4G) starting today, 10 April, at 9am (BST) from the Microsoft Store and as of May 8 they will be able to purchase from high street retailers, such as Dixons' selected stores and online.

Surface 2 (4G) comes with a micro-SIM card slot and ability to connect across multiple cellular networks up to 4G LTE[i], in addition to Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing you get online on the go. Just like Surface 2, Surface 2 (4G) ships with Windows RT 8.1 and is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor so your apps run fast and smooth. It features the same exceptional 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD display rendering 1080p video and features like Xbox Music that give you the entertaining and gaming capabilities you need, plus Office Home & Student RT and Outlook RT pre-loaded for when it is time to get work done. It has the same dual-angle kickstand people love and at only 10g more than the Surface 2, Surface 2 (4G) is light and portable for people who want to get productive in more places. Surface 2 (4G) is available with a 64GB configuration[ii] and will have an estimated retail price of £539.

To help people get the most out of Surface 2 (4G), new customers will receive free Skype calling to landlines in more than 60 countries for one year, unlimited Skype Wi-Fi available at more than 2 million hot spots worldwide for one year, and 200 GB of free OneDrive storage for two years.[ii]
