Thoughts

What can I say? I'm a nostalgia junkie when it comes to reliving my childhood (This is the man who has a complete set of Transformers DVDs...), and this product has caught me hook, line and sinker in that respect. If you owned the C64 in your youth, or wanted to, you'll find a few hours of entertainment in checking out the games on offer and reminiscing about when you used to have a joystick just like this one. It could also offer after-pub entertainment aplenty, being as 'pick up and play'-able as it is. There are some truly classic games of their time in the compilation, which could well give the device some longevity once that initial buzz of 'Wow! A Commodore 64!' has worn off.

The only people really liable to be disappointed with the C64 DTV are those who want a fully-fledged Commodore experience, complete with BASIC and a full selection of games. For those people, the emulation scene remains the only way to go. For the more casual nostalgia trippers, the C64 DTV is a perfect tonic, and for the price (Just 29.99) you'd be daft not to pick one up. This product is slated for a full UK launch later this year, but as of now you can enjoy an NTSC version of the device imported from America in limited quantities from Gadgets.co.uk. Provided your TV supports an NTSC signal (which most modern sets do) you're ready to go. Now, if you'll excuse me, back to Speedball I go...

Pros

Bargain price
A plethora of old classic games
Great nostalgia trip

Cons

Hardcore Commodore 64 fans will want to look elsewhere
