Joint Task Force

HEXUS.E3 At E3 2006 Vivendi were showcasing their new RTS title Joint Task Force, in which you'll command the front lines in a number of hazardous war-zones including the Middle East, Central Asia, South America, and the Balkans.

Joint Task Force focuses on modern day warfare and uses the latest military technology and tactics to supress the enemy. Thanks to Vivendi's licensing agreement with a number of military hardware manufacturers the game features highly detailed weapons and vehicles

The game is set in the year 2007 where the powers that be have created an elite squad called the Joint Task Force to take on the World's terrorists and dictators across harsh terrain, in some of the most oppressive regimes in the World. After an initial tutorial, allowing you to get to grip with the game's control system you'll embark of 5 campaigns across different terrains including the desert, jungle and caves. Landscapes and buildings are totally destructible - buildings crumble to the ground with immense force and dynamic flair.

The resource system in the game revolves around money which is gained through completing the main missions or the secondary objectives. The units on the battlefield gain experience the more you use them, once a unit reaches a certain level it is called a 'hero' unit, it can then be kitted out with a secondary weapon and special equipment.

Perhaps the most innovative feature of the game is the news channel that pops up and provides background information on your battle. You'll see these news reporters on the ground and your actions will sway the World's opinion on the Joint Task Force. For example, shoot a civilian and you could be headline news for the wrong reasons.
