The Witcher

CD Projekt RED announced today that The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and the Prints & Drawings Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) have cordially chosen artwork from CD Projekt’s The Witcher for the third annual Into the Pixel exhibition of video game art, taking place during E3 in Los Angeles May 10-12. The chosen image, entitled “The Road,” was completed by talented Damian Bajowski, accredited concept artist who has been working on The Witcher since the project’s conception.

Scheduled for release in Spring 2007, The Witcher transports players to a unique fantasy world in the role of legendary monster-slayer Geralt of Rivia. The game blends a classic role-playing experience — with extensive character and story development — and unprecedented real-time combat that is both stunning and tactical. Based in the world created by celebrated author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is poised to reinvigorate the role-playing genre with a fresh approach to traditional PC role-playing games.

Into the Pixel is videogame artists' one annual opportunity to receive recognition for their creative achievements by peers in both the digital and fine art worlds. Video games are an influential aspect of pop-culture and entertainment whose impact goes beyond the digital arts to influence perspectives in art, cinematography, literature and even fashion. And behind every game character and dynamic environment are artists whose talents birthed the image seen in the 3-D world.

Into the Pixel 2006 will premiere May 10-12, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, in the Los Angeles Convention Center Concourse Foyer.
