Nintendo have stepped forward to dismiss rumours that Wii will be released much earlier than expected. A number of high profile sites, such as CNN Money.com, were suggesting that Wii could possibly be released in September. The speculation was based on evidence that the final build of Nintendo's latest console is now in production.

Nintendo of America has denied this rumour. "There's no change in our plan to release the console in the last quarter of this year,” a spokesman said. “We are planning an announcement in September and it may be causing some confusion."

It's pretty certain that Wii will launch before the PS3, currently pencilled in for November 17th, and Sony haven't yet started to produce the retail versions. Mind you, I remember Microsoft leaving it to the last few months and their Global launch was seemless, wasn't it?

Based on the dozens of rumours we've seen, we're sticking to the suggestion that Wii will be released at the end of October. In fact , the constant rumour of date changes is starting to annoy us, so we'll not bring you any more Wii launch rumours until we know for sure - scout's honour.

This makes me very upset, as long as they launch Wii at least until october will be fine.
