Beginning today, Turbine are offering a free seven day trial of their MMORPG, Lord of the Rings Online.

The move indicates that this high budget game isn't doing as well as expected; the official press release states that there are "4 million characters calling Middle-earth their home," but avoids stating how many actual accounts there are.

Last week, Turbine released the second free update for subscribers to The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Book 10: The City of the Kings, the second of many planned free updates to the world of Middle-earth, continues the epic story, adds over 100 new quests, implements significant enhancements to monster play, and introduces the Reputation and Bartering systems.

Anyone reccomend this game?
Try it! ;)

I bought it on release, hoping it would be a great MMORPG, but found it too dry and not as immersive as WoW. I didn't feel any motivation to load up the game.

I also felt no motivation to load up or play WoW just before I quit, but I spent over four months in WoW, and less than three weeks in LotR:O.

If the trial doesn't grab you, I doubt the full game will. :)
It's reasonably good, certainly better than a large number of other MMOs. I played the beta for a couple of months, and, since it looks as if they're finally fixing some of the bugs I reported, may sign up for it.
I really like this game. I've just not got enough time for MMOs. If I had then LOTRO would certainly be my first choice. Spent around 30 hours in the Shires as a Hobbit and thought it was great, I really had to drag myself away because I've got other games to play.

The community are really friendly and joining a guild is great fun.

It's not as deep as the likes of Vanguard, but if you like the LOTR Universe you'll love this.
Thanks :) Ill give it a try !
