Two former DICE lead developers, behind the Battlefield, Lost Planet and Shadows of the Damned games, have established Fugitive Games. This new studio has launched a Kickstarter campaign for an open-world space survival sim called 'Into the Stars'. The single-player space sim will take the player on a journey, as a captain of a vessel looking for mankind's new home, following a decade-long alien onslaught which is about to destroy the Earth.
You will be put in charge of an inexperienced crew which has to navigate through a "solar system packed with mystery and danger." During the adventure the player will have to steer the ship, scavenge and manage resources and control their ship's systems all whilst performing civilian rescues and outrunning a hostile alien force to fight for survival.
The game is the first project developed by Fugitive Games, a new studio founded by Ben Jones, Alden Filion, Roy Orr and Marc Janas. The team is seeking $85,000 in funding to complete the project for PC and Mac, which is said to have already undergone "significant development". To make it even better, the soundtrack will be scored by Jack Wall, the composer who created the music for games such as Mass Effect, Call of Duty and Lost Planet.
You can gain access to Into the Stars, upon its estimated July 2015 release, by pledging for $15 or more. Its Steam Greenlight page indicates that the final game will be sold at a price of around $20-$25. At the time of writing the game has managed to raise $29,000 towards its $85k goal, with 29 days left before its crowdfunding deadline.
