Infinity Ward and Activision may have annoyed thousands of gamers with its handling of Modern Warfare 2 - the PC crowd didn't exactly welcome the game, and the console bunch are already feeling aggrieved at the £10 asking price for the upcoming DLC - but both the developer and publisher sure know how to promote the biggest FPS game of all time.

Keeping its marketing ploy in full swing, the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package - scheduled to land on Xbox Live this coming Tuesday, March 30th - was teased a short while ago via a website asking gamers "do you suffer from Mapathy?" - a condition described as "a state of indifference to the same old maps one has been playing for the last several months".

We thought the idea was cute, and Infinity Ward is now following it up with a hilarious Mapathy Trailer (we found it funny, at least). The idea of splashing out 1,200 Microsoft Points for a Stimulus Package that contains just five new maps - of which only three are actually new - wasn't quite as appealing as we'd hoped, but proving that a good ad campaign can work wonders, Infinity Ward is starting to win us over.

Check out the ad below, and if you consider yourself to be a Mapathy sufferer or a Modern Warfare 2 maestro, test your knowledge of the game's maps with the new Mapathy Quiz. Let us know how you fare in the HEXUS.community forums - we'll be disappointed if you don't beat our pitiful score of 70 per cent.

In related news, Infinity Ward has also made available the first official Stimulus Package teaser trailer. It isn't as detailed as the Inside Xbox footage, but you can check it out below.

… erm :O_o1:

:help:
Wow that's possibly one of the most ridiculous adverts I've ever seen :O_o1:
I love the fact that they have remade some of the maps from cod4 and are charging money for it. CoD4 for pc will always be a better game than MW2. It is almost impossible to run a tournament as well as servers and promod.

We are going to have to pay for the extra few maps?

With all the crap they have had regarding glitches and bugs, it should be free without a doubt, and some maps are just remakes.

What a complete joke.
