Variety brings news that Spiderman director Sam Raimi will be directing a movie adaptation of the popular fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game, World of Warcraft.

The film will tell the story of the conflict between the Horde and the Alliance and will be a "fantastic, action-packed story," said Raimi.

Warner Bros, Legendary Pictures and Blizzard Entertainment have team up to produce and fund the film, which will also have the input of The Dark Knight producer, Charles Roven.

"Warcraft" is "emblematic of the kind of branded, event films for which our studio is best known," said Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov.

Work gets underway on "Warcraft" after Raimi has finished work on Spiderman 4.

They could make a fortune if it's done well, the warcraft universe has has soo much detailed background story lines etc. However most films based on games are usually done badly, for me only hitman has been worthy.
for me it was silent hill. great movie
Not a fan of the game but would love to see a film version, does anybody know who is directing? Please let it be Peter Jackson because he done a great job with LOTR. Oh on the other hand Sam (Evil Dead) Rami would probably do a good job as well. :surrender:
