Have you ever played a PC game?

There are a few raised eyebrows over at the official Playstation forums over the recent news as to why the PS3 version of Devil May Cry 4 will take approximately 20 minutes to install when you first put the disc in the slot.

Okay, it’s not the end of the world, but it does seem ridiculous when you discover that Xbox 360 gamers can pop the disc in and get straight on with the action.

Capcom’s Chris "Kramez" Kramer has shrugged off the issue, saying that the loading time gives gamers the chance to catch up on the series. If you don't want to sit through it you can go and get yourselves something to eat or make a drink.

While the game is loading, you get to watch a really nifty series of screens that completely catch you up on the DMC4 backstory. Think of it as compressing the last three “seasons” into a single info blast, accompanied by some fantastic DMC artwork. It’s great for those new to the series and also a good refresher to serious fans (you can also check out all these screens again later in the Library mode).

If you don’t want to watch the “Previously, on Devil May Cry…” portion of the install process, go make a sandwich and grab a soda, then come on back. You’re going to be spending some serious time with this game, and we don’t want you going hungry. Low blood sugar will make you dizzy and you’ll need to be focused like an Alan Parsons Project to defeat the enemies in this game.

Kramer then goes on to ‘take the mickey out’ of those fans who are complaining about the waiting time - before the game has even been released - by saying: “Wah! The game takes 20 minutes to install the first time. Wah! Have you ever played a PC game? At least we aren’t making you shuffle multiple discs into a ROM drive, or continuously click “Yes!” on a series of endless Windows dialog boxes. Installing on a console may seem like a weird idea, but there’s a real benefit.”

What are these benefits then? Well, Kramer says that once you sit through the install you’ll be treated to “near-Super Nintendo speed load times.” CVG, however, claim that they’ve played "‘a good few hours into both versions and the load times on the PS3 version are a few seconds shorter than the 360 cousin at best. They're definitely no way near "Super Nintendo speed".

Are you bothered about waiting for 20 minutes for a 5GB download? Let us know in the forums.

Well what if I already made a sandwich (and eaten it), had a drink, know ALL the backstory and don't buy his crap about “how its no big deal” and it's “installing”?

Well (exploitive deleted) you buddy.
this was always inevitable once hard disks went into consoles
AAhh this game stinks imo, never really been a fan.
got the demo from the store a few days back - not bad but im still unsure wether im gonna buy it or not yet - depends on other releases in that time area . . . .and if i claw myself away from COD4
It is not really a game on my horizon personally but i mean whats the big deal? Wait 20 minutes the first time you install, at least you get faster load times every time you play after. If its the size - well big hard drives are not exactly that expensive? Seems allot of fuss about nothing imo.
