Tonight's copy of the London Evening Standard newspaper could lay claim that the civil unrest, seen across Tottenham and Brixton in the past 48 hours, were "inspired" by the hit video game series, Grand Theft Auto.

Reports follow after a police officer in Tottenham and an Enfield resident spoke to the media explaining that they believed the popular video game series was the "catalyst" behind the riots.

A member of the Evening Standard news team has gone on to confirm that the GTA quotes are to be included in the article, however the source would not rule out the possibility of alternations being made before the paper hits the presses.

This isn't the first time Rockstar has been targeted by the press and it definitely isn't the first time video games in general have been blamed.

Only last month Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was portrayed as a training tool for Anders Behring Breivik and the terrible events that ensued in Norway.

Oh for god's sake, I'm not even to comment any further…
It's been a slow burner then, there hasn't been a new GTA for about 4 years…
Not even worthy of a real reply.

Some future story in a local paper ‘might’ include some quotes about GTA and you go from that to ‘GTA blamed for civil unrest’? What kind of news is this Hexus?
I suppose we're out of luck then for an up to date GTA: London edition then?
