Voice recognition for Microsoft’s Kinect peripheral will not be available in mainland Europe at launch, reports Eurogamer Spain. In fact Microsoft doesn’t plan to launch the feature until Spring 2011.

The Kinect voice recognition software will support British English, American English, Japanese and Mexican Spanish languages at launch, but even if you can speak any or all of those languages it’s not going make the slight bit of difference if you live in mainland Europe, because your console is region-locked and Microsoft won’t be updating consoles till next year.

For having to wait for a feature that we’ve always assumed would be available at launch, surely Europeans should pay a little less for Kinect?
