Drums for those on the road
Now whilst Rock Band and Rock Band 2 wil le you feel like a real musician and play a load of cool tunes without actually needing to learn to play, one thing it can't replicate is the team of roadies who back up a touring band. As anyone who owns Rock Band will tell you, the Rock Band drum kit is (possibly) the largest accessory so far that's needed to play a game... and it's not exactly portable.
You're pretty much ok with the guitars and the mic as these aren't huge things to lob in the back of the car.... and even then Mad Catz have come up with a bunch of cool stuff for them which we'll be showing you in a another article soon. But drummers are pretty much stuffed when it somes to shifting their kit around. I took mine around to a mate's house and it was nearly as a big a pain in the backside as taking an entire PC to a BYO LAN... so the Mad Catz portable drum kit may come in very handy.
Yep, it's four touch sensitive pads and a foot pedal all linked to a central control box. The idea is you just lay it all out on a table top and away you go. I can't comment on how good they actually are and I'd like to think that the drumsticks are fited with soft tips so I don't dent the surface I'm playing on, but until we get a go with them, who can say?
Anyway, check back soon as we've a load more from the Mad Catz range to tell you about, including some very cool stuff about Fender...
