Time to hit the sack

It’s a relatively short walk back up the steep hill to Bag End and it’s been a gruelling day so I was hoping to turn in for the night, but Lobelia Sackville Baggins was standing outside her front door and had some pressing business. She wanted some fireworks for her birthday party, even more than Bilbo had for his, and she asked me to travel to Tuckborough to ask Hyacinth if she could help out. So, off I went again on a long trek through the farmland of Hobbiton, where I was attacked by an angry tusker after I tried to take a short-cut through his enclosure (never mind his hide might come in handy). A quick sprint through the woods and I met up with Hyacinth at her home in the Great Smials of Tuckborough, where generations of Tooks have lived in peace amongst the rolling hills and pipe-weed plantations. A Hobbit should always expect the unexpected and sure enough just I thought the job was going to be a breeze, Hyacinth threw a spanner in the works and told me that I needed to collect some more items before she could help me out.

On the way back to Bag-End to deliver the news to Lobelia I stopped by the farm to collect some chicken eggs and dropped in at the auction house to sell some unwanted wares. Along the way I walked across the open countryside and had to see off a swarm of stinging gnats who pounced on me without warning. I don’t really mind having to fight, it’s all adventuring experience after all and will stand me good stead for when I leave the Shire, but it can be annoying when you’re just going about your daily business. It’s been a busy day and as the sun begins to set, casting shadows over the hills and valley, my stomach is still rumbling, yearning for hot pie and melted cheese. Tomorrow I plan to be a bit more energetic so maybe I'll head up to Greenfields in search for goblins, but then again I might just smoke some more pipe-weed or go for a swim and bathe in the glorious sunshine of the Shire. Life can be as slow paced or as busy as you want when you're a Hobbit.

Since playing Lord of the Rings Online, I've ordered the films and hope to read more about the history of Middle-Earth. Lord of the Rings Online is currently slated for an April release. Head for the Shire, Hobbits!
