Swann Security today announced its latest covert-security device, the FlashlightDVR. The flashlight, pictured below, is said to conceal monitoring and recording equipment in its shell.
We don't think it's concealed particularly well, mind you, and the "FlashlightDVR" description across its side is a bit of a giveaway.
Nonetheless, Swann Security states "This device will appeal to a wide range of users who need a discreet system that will allow them to record video and photos during the day or night such as security guards, club “bouncers”, and night watchman."
The FlashlightDVD features aluminium housing, and can be used in all weather conditions. It'll record in MPEG-4, directly onto the 128MiB of on-board memory, and there's a mini-SD slot to provide up to 2GiB of extra space. It isn't all about recording, though. The light itself is pretty heavy duty, it offers three levels of brightness and a number of infrared sensors provide night vision up to four metres.
If you think there's a use for a flashlight with a built-in DVR, Swann's gizmo is available from swannsecurity.com for £199.99. It'd be perfect to film the next Blair Witch sequel.
