The Tizi app and tuner brings digital TV (DTT / DVB-T / TNT) to the small screen, and the new update adds a host of new features, including the ability to pause and rewind a show, the addition of an electronic program guide with push notifications, and refined on-screen controls.
Here’s a run-down of the new features:
Déjà Vu recording
The addition of preview thumbnails allows users to flick to specific scenes, as well as pause and rewind any live TV show. You can also record from any point during a TV show, or rewind it back to the beginning and record it from the start.
Program guide with push notifications
An enchanced electronic program guide allows you to tag favourite TV shows and reminds you when they’re about to begin by sending you a push notification. You can also continue watching a TV show while browsing through the guide.
Wi-Fi connection
Tizi connects to any Wi-Fi network, but if one isn’t available it will create a hotspot so you can get a TV reception, which doesn’t affect your data plan.
Improved touchscreen controls
A refined interface allows users to access media controls, such as Play, Pause and Rewind, by simply tapping on the TV picture. You can also swipe the screen to move from one TV show to the next.
Optimisation for iPad 2 and iPhone 4S
This latest update sees better optimisation for iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, though equinox does not go into specifics.
Tizi, of course, comes at a price. Though the App is free and available to download via the App Store, you also need to buy the device, which is currently available from retailers including Amazon, priced £149.95.
