Looks like the media attention on a security flaw that could allow attackers to execute malicious code on an iPhone has convinced Apple to take action.
The bug, first discovered by researchers three weeks ago, could allow an attacker to take control of an iPhone handset by simply sending it specially-manipulated SMS message.
Although Apple itself is yet to comment, mobile operator O2 - who has exclusive rights to the iPhone in the UK - has confirmed that Apple is working to address the problem, and that a patch would be issued as soon as tomorrow.
Commenting on the issue, an O2 spokesperson has said "we will be communicating to customers both through the website and proactively, we always recommend our customers update their iPhone with the latest software and this is no different."
O2 expects the patch to made available via iTunes on Saturday August 1st.
