O2, the UK's exclusive mobile operator for Apple's iPhone, began taking pre-orders early this morning for customers wishing to upgrade to the forthcoming iPhone 3G.
The handset, which officially lands on July 11th, was announced early last month with O2 boasting an iPhone first; Pay & Go price plans. Back then, the O2 website stated: "Customers will soon be able to enjoy all the great features of iPhone without a monthly contract with the iPhone for Pay & Go."
That, however, is no longer the case as the O2 website now reads: "iPhone 3G for Pay & Go will be available later this year." Helping narrow down a time frame, Carphone Warehouse states the Pay & Go options will arrive "in time for the Christmas period".
Sorry folks, you won't be getting a Pay & Go iPhone 3G later this week after all. You might want to take a second look at those pricey monthly tariffs.
