Slightly more appealing, but still mighty expensive
The Apple iPhone has so far failed to take UK customers by storm. It's not hard to see why either, currently only available from operator O2 at a cost of £269 with a minimum 18 month contract of £35 per month, the iPhone is an expensive long term proposition for any user.
That however is now set to change as online retailer Ebuyer become the first retailer in the UK to offer the iPhone sim free, and being completely legal, it'll come with a full warranty. The downside however is that Ebuyer are retailing the iPhone at a hefty £411.24.
It is unclear just how Ebuyer has managed to sell these so called 'unlocked' iPhones. Speculation is rife that Ebuyer has unlocked the phones itself and an Apple firmware upgrade would render them useless.
Whilst I still believe the iPhone is far too expensive for what it is, it's good to see it available without the meaty contracts that O2 currently offer.

*UPDATE*
In a not too surprising turn of events, Ebuyer have now pulled the product from its website with a message stating "Sorry, this product is now discontinued and is no longer available for sale on the Ebuyer.com website."
We'll keep our eyes peeled and hope for Ebuyer to make an official statement.
