InterVideo claims that its Windows high-def DVD player program WinDVD HD is the first to handle Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus - the next-generation Dolby audio encoders set to be used on forthcoming movies on high-def DVD and other media.
The company reckons that lossless Dolby TrueHD technology delivers true high-definition sound - "playback that is bit-for-bit identical to that of a studio master recording". Dolby Digital Plus, described as "an extension of world-class Dolby Digital technology" (thanks, folks, we'd probably have been able to guess that!), is said to introduce viewers to "the next level of listening experience with rich, warm bass response and crystal-clear, high-frequency performance". Both technologies are said to support more than eight audio channels.
