Panasonic is going all out this week with a slew of new product introductions. Having unveiled a new line of VIERA LCD and Plasma displays, it's now demonstrating the world's first Blu-ray recorders to feature built-in Freesat+ functionality.
At a launch event in Amsterdam, the manufacturer has been showing off its DMR-BS850 and DMR-BS750, a pair of Blu-ray recorders that support BD-Live functionality and feature twin Freesat tuners.
Panasonic has been a long-running supporter of the free-to-air HD service, and having previously launched a range of Freesat-ready displays, it will become only the second manufacturer to offer Freesat+ units alongside the existing FOXSAT-HDR from HUMAX.
Details on the units remain slim, but TrustedReviews reports that the DMR-BS850 will be packing a 500GB hard drive and the DMR-BS750 will offer a 250GB capacity.
If the price is right - and if the units allow for HD recordings to be archived onto Blu-ray disc - these could certainly become highly sought after.
