There's never a shortage of "world's first" announcements at consumer trade shows, but one worth noting is Sony's "world’s first Motionflow 200Hz BRAVIA" - the Z4500.
The set, pictured below - complete with dumbstruck viewer - will provide a staggering 200 frames per second. It should be noted that this may be the world's first BRAVIA to accomplish such a feat, but Samsung premiered a 240Hz set back in May. Unfortunately for Samsung, its 240Hz screen isn't expected to arrive until 2010. Sony's 200Hz BRAVIA will arrive in time for Christmas, this year.
The Z5400 uses sophisticated algorithms to calculate three additional frames for every original, upping the frame rate from 50 to 200 per second.
Alongside Sony's BRAVIA Engine 2, there's an image-enhancement technology going by the name of Image Blur Reduction. Early eyes-on impressions suggest that the technology on offers provides ultra-smooth quality and an extremely crisp image, but, at a hefty cost.
Sony expects the set to hit Europe in time for Christmas in 40in (KDL-40Z4500), 46in (KDL-46Z4500) and 52in (KDL-52Z4500) models, priced at €2,200, €2,800 and €3,200, respectively.
