23rd June 2005, London. Orange is making it possible for the thousands of music lovers not lucky enough to get hold of tickets to create their own mini- festival on their Orange mobiles. The network today launches a new improved Music Player and unveils Fireplayer Online and Calling Tunes, which will make it easier for music lovers to Find Music on Orange handsets whether in the middle of a field in Somerset or on a sunlounger in Surrey.

Mark Ashford, head of music for Orange UK, said: “The launch of these new services marks the ongoing Orange commitment to helping customers find and enjoy better quality music on their phones.

“We are working with major and independent labels and now have over 300,000 Music Player full length music tracks available. With thousands of current and pre-release tracks added every week on Orange World, Orange customers can download even more of their favourite tunes directly to their phones.” continued Ashford.

Music Player* has been improved to support AAC+ MPEG-4 tracks which deliver the highest quality music available on a mobile. It also comes packed with new features including ‘Tell A Friend’ function lets you recommend tracks to your friends while the new ‘Skip A Track’ allows users to change the track that’s going to be played next. Also, a new text search function enables users to find music on their phone by artist, track name or both

Fireplayer Online* is an Internet based version of Orange’s award winning Fireplayer ringtone remixing service. Customers who want to stand out in a crowd will be able to produce their own personalised ringtones on any True Tone enabled handset, by remixing original music tracks online before sending them from a PC to their phone.

Calling Tunes* will allow Orange mobile users to personalise the calling experience other people have when calling them. Orange customers can select their own Calling Tune from hundreds of tracks which is then played alongside the ‘ring ring’ tone whenever anyone calls their mobile. Users can allocate different Calling Tunes to different people in their address book or set one standard Calling Tune for everyone. From sport and film themes like World in Motion and Star Wars to the latest dance and urban hits from the likes of the Bodyrockers and 50 cent, you can choose a track to suit your caller.

The Music Player, Fireplayer Online and Calling Tunes announcements follow Orange’s original ‘Find Music’ launch on 31st March 2005 in which Orange launched its range of ‘great for music’ handsets, festival and artist partnerships and inclusion into the Official UK Chart Company’s download chart.
