London, UK, 30 June 2009 - The Skype application for the iPhone and iPod touch has recently been updated and is now available for download.
In response to customer feedback, users can now listen to their Skype voicemail while on the move, as well as send low cost SMS to friends and family around the world. Skype has also improved the look and feel of the application, particularly when calling phones using the dial pad.
Since its initial launch on 31st March, there have been over 4 million downloads of Skype for iPhone. Over 1 million users have signed up to Skype through the Skype for iPhone app.
Users can download the update in iTunes, or launch the App Store on their device and select Updates to get the latest version.
Skype has also updated the language support for the iPhone app, and it is now available in Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish and traditional Chinese as well as English.
Note: This version requires iPhone OS 2.2 or 3.0. If you’re still using iPhone OS 2.1 or 2.0, you’ll need to update to 2.2 in order to run Skype 1.1 for iPhone – it’s free and easy to do. Skype for iPhone is not supported on devices running modified versions of iPhone OS.
