PRESS RELEASE
Libratone prides itself on staying ahead of the curve, and in true Libratone fashion, its ZIPP wireless speaker will now work with Amazon Alexa. This groundbreaking new feature gives you complete control over the ZIPP and connected devices, simply by using the power of your voice.
Set music free – Libratone ZIPP
Libratone believes in setting sound free, and with this in mind, the Libratone ZIPP skill for Amazon Alexa makes it even easier to operate the range of impressive features and functions of the ZIPP. As Simon Peschcke Køedt, VP of Global Marketing, Head of Libratone Denmark explains:
”Libratone is on a quest to set music free and the ability to control your ZIPP with your voice is an important step in this direction. Now you can simply enable the Libratone ZIPP skill, then ask Alexa on a device like the Echo Dot to turn up the volume of your ZIPP no matter where you choose to place it”.
Hearing you loud and clear
In addition to the Libratone ZIPP skill for Alexa, it’s also compatible with the Alexa Voice service. In other words, you can now talk to the ZIPP and tell it what you want Alexa to do. Simply tap, tell it to “Play Drake” and Alexa makes it happen.
Because ZIPP works with all Alexa commands, it opens the door to a world of new smart-home devices. And with a lightweight battery and a beautiful exterior that’s designed to look good anywhere, you can move, place and control the ZIPP whenever and wherever you want.
Free and easy control
Amazon Alexa voice command control and integration is available to all existing ZIPP and ZIPP Mini customers totally free of charge, through a simple update, due to be released in Autumn this year. Existing users will automatically be notified about the update on the Libratone App.
Extending the Smart-home integration with AirPlay 2
But there’s more to come. Apple AirPlay 2 is due to launch later this year and, true to form, Libratone is ready for it. ”We are proud to be one of the first Wireless speaker companies in the world to release AirPlay 2 support. This will underpin our ambition of bringing well sounding and beautifully designed wireless speakers to the world even further” said Simon Peschcke Køedt, VP of Global Marketing, Head of Libratone Denmark.
The update will be ready shortly after Apple’s release of AirPlay 2, and will be totally free of charge for all existing ZIPP and ZIPP Mini Users.

About Libratone
Libratone is on a mission to liberate sound and to expand peoples’ experiences with music in the era of streaming. Founded in 2009 in Denmark, Libratone is one of the first audio companies to consider the aesthetics of speakers – to move them out of the corner of the room and into the centre and onward, for the consumer on the move. Designed in the Scandinavian tradition, Libratone creates high performing sound refined through plush fabrics for a warmer, brighter listening experience.
In 2012, the 360°-market was revolutionized by Libratone’s iconic ZIPP-speaker - the first portable, wireless and cylindershaped speaker that allowed the sound to flow in 360°. The speaker is equipped with a designed leather handle and constructed to be light and ultra portable – in order to let the music take center stage and allow users to enjoy music anywhere in their home.
Even though other audio brands have followed in their footsteps, Libratone today holds a patent on their 360° FullRoom™ acoustic technology, which spreads soundwaves in multiple directions and provides listeners with a better sound experience. In 2015, Libratone launched the next generation ZIPP-speakers, with their unique SoundSpace-concept, allowing users to create their own SoundSpaces by streaming music, podcasts and movies anywhere in their home. The speakers of Libratone are constantly being updated via firmware updates which make them adaptable for new developments in the audio market.
