PRESS RELEASE
7th June 2017 - Following Apple's announcement of the launch of the new AirPlay 2 and iOS 11 at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, Libratone is proud to be among the first audio brands in the world to support it.
According to Simon Peschcke-Køedt, VP Global Marketing at Libratone, the market for multi-room audio has been developing well in recent years - with a few brands, like Libratone, developing their own multi-room system. Libratone launched its dedicated multi-room support app in 2015, bringing SoundSpaces and remote multi-room audio control to their consumers. However, in general, the awareness of multi-room audio and global sales of multi-room speakers are just a small percentage of the total market.
“AirPlay 2 will mean that millions of people can set music free – by easily controlling speakers with Siri, or manually on their Macs, iPhones and iPads. Consumers with iOS devices all over the world will now have multi-room audio control right in their hands.” Simon Peschcke-Køedt explains.
The most exciting part for Libratone is the multi-room control – where Libratone ZIPP and ZIPP MINI speakers with AirPlay 2 support can be connected simply and easily. “We believe the launch of iOS 11 and AirPlay 2 will significantly increase consumer interest in the enjoyment and flexibility of connected speakers. Optimising the music experience by offering consumers maximum flexibility and freedom, has been our goal all along.” Simon Peschcke-Køedt explains.
A free software update will be released later this year to bring support for AirPlay 2 to the entire Libratone ZIPP range.
