The business refresh cycle

But it doesn't end there. Commercial customers also get a couple of new notebooks - ProBook 6445b and ProBook 6545b - as well as the HP Elite 7000 business desktop. There are also a couple of new docking stations and some new power management and monitoring software.

It looks like there are more to come from HP, as it anticipates the start of a new business refresh cycle coinciding with the launch of Windows 7. "The release of Windows 7 presents an ideal opportunity for businesses of all types to evaluate their aging fleet of client devices and build a plan to leverage the best solutions to meet their company's needs," said Stephen DeWitt, SVP and GM of HP's Personal Systems Group - Americas.

AMD once more gets good exposure, with the HP ProBook b-series featuring both its CPUs and graphics. One of AMD's favourite topics - battery life - is also touched upon, with a claimed increase of 60 percent to over eight hours.

The HP Elite 7000 offers Intel Core i5 and i7 CPUs, a 1TB hard drive with an optional SSD, and a bunch of other optional bells and whistles. There's also an emphasis on security - both physical and cyber - and Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 (SLED) come pre-installed.

We believe the ProBook b-series will be launching in the UK on 22 October, but currently we only have US pricing of $799. The Elite desktop will also come out with Windows 7 for $789.

Hold on, TouchSmart 600 is £1,199 in the UK and $1,049 in the US???? Are they kidding??

At current exchange rates the UK price is literally DOUBLE the US price. That is absolutely disgraceful :censored:
