Hip HP

The ‘back to school' season is considered second only in importance to the Christmas holiday season when it comes to the annual consumer sales cycle. There is a yearly frenzy of IT purchasing to ensure junior is best equipped to do well in the impending academic year.

Tech giant HP is wasting no time in targeting the yoof market this year and has decided a key way to differentiate itself in the increasingly commoditised notebook market is to tart them up a bit.

Hence we have the HP Pavilion dv6 Artist Edition notebook, which seems to be a regular dv6, but with the winning submission from the HP and MTV Engine Room Notebook Design Contest adorning the case.

Regarding spec, the press release only mentions an "AMD Turion dual-core processor," and "high-resolution ATI video graphics," so HP appears to be continuing its policy of supporting AMD wherever it can.

The HP Pavilion dv6 Artist Edition will be available across Europe from July at a price of '699'. Note this was not currency specific so we can only assume it applies to both Euros and GBP.
