Delphic dabbling

The world's largest enterprise software company - Oracle - has decided it's time to stick its logo on a piece of hardware. Understandably it's chosen a high performance server as the recipient of this honour.

The HP Oracle Database Machine is, of course, built by HP. It's a rack system consisting of a combination of Oracle Database Servers and Oracle Exadata Storage Servers. It claims to deliver ten times the speed of current Oracle Data Warehouses. Apparently this is due to an improvement in the way data is transferred between the two types of server.

"For the first time, customers can get smart performance storage designed for Oracle data warehouses that is ten times faster," said Oracle CEO Larry Ellison.

Apart from the logo, the significance of the new server is that it's pre-configured for performance and certified to run Oracle software. It is designed for high performance data warehouses and runs on Intel processors. It seems that HP is responsible for delivery and hardware service.

Sweet, they put our logo on the rack.

Redundant word?

Apparently this is due to an improvement in the speed with which data is transferred between the two types of server.
That doesn't sound right either
Points taken, better now? :)
Much :)
