The Royal Wedding will be broadcast live on YouTube as part of the palace's plans to embrace web media and expand its appeal to a younger audience.

Coverage of the event will begin 10am on Friday April 29th, and will run for four hours, ending after the couple's post-wedding appearance on the balcony at Buckingham Palace.

In an effort to get viewers involved, a live blog has been developed to run alongside the YouTube feed, and users will be able to click on links to learn more about the history behind the day.

A spokesperson for St James's Palace has stated that "this will be the first time a live blog has run alongside a live stream on YouTube for any occasion", and the organizers appear to be doing their utmost to embrace every available form of social networking.

In addition to the YouTube footage, which will be broadcast via the official Royal Channel, the royal wedding can be followed on Flickr, Facebook and Twitter, as well as the official royal wedding website, officialroyalwedding2011.org.

(mental reminder) Must remember to leave London before Friday :)
who really cares? For me this week is going to be a great chance to catch up on all the stuff I have recorded on my Sky+, followed by a day on the golf course on friday avoiding the constant drivel that will be thrust into our faces about this wedding.

Surely most of the people who actually care about the wedding don't know how to use a computer (and especially youtube) anyway? Or is it really for our international friends who have a fascination with our royal “friends”.

I do feel sorry for the pair of them in a way though, kate even more so since her life is now over in many ways..and what should be the best day of her life is going to be broadcast to the whole world, and will be nothing of the sort.
I'm trying to care… really…
great even more crap on the net
I've been saving up films on my pvr for an emergency, I believe this qualifies.
