BT has revealed the 41 lucky market towns that will get fibre broadband in the next phase of its super-fast broadband roll-out.

The firm said that around 300,000 homes and businesses will be able to get broadband speeds of up to 40MB/s from spring of this year.

Is also claimed that this phase is in response to customer demand for fibre broadband in certain areas and is part of the company's promise to deliver faster broadband in rural areas.

Due to the ‘typical typography' of market towns, BT reckons most premises will be able to access fibre broadband but warned that it is likely that a minority will not be able to get new services for economic and technical reasons.

BT's Openreach said it wants to discuss ways to reach places left-out in the next fibre phase with local council reps.

The list of 41 market towns join the 785 exchange locations across the country that BT has already revealed in its fibre roll-out plans to date and these locations serve around 8 million homes and businesses.

"We want to extend the fibre footprint and the benefits the technology brings to more rural areas. So we're constantly evolving our deployment model to make sure we can bring the benefits of the technology to the maximum number of people within the scope of our commercial deployment," said Steve Robertson, CEO of Openreach.

"The inclusion of 41 market towns in our roll-out plan firmly demonstrates our commitment to finding solutions for local communities. However, in many cases, this will require a collective effort. An infrastructure project on this scale - arguably as important to the future of the UK as the road or rail networks - can only be done in partnership. We're keen to talk to public and private sector organisations about how this can be achieved," he added.

Without further ado, here is the list of the market towns.

How about Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds…you know places where more than 2000 people live.
what on earth?!

Why not roll them out in the order of demand and cost?

That way each one would be used by more people, and as the cost of each roll out would be less they could invest it back in, so not only would more people be getting better broadband tomorrow, but even more people would get it the day after and so on.

Instead we've got the same old crap, politically interfeared with.

Why not just roll out the most likely to uptake densily populated areas, like London first. I've got to wait till April ffs!
Now about Northern ireland? Or do we get the sh*** again.

Oh up yer bum! I've not even got 21CN in my town and no date for it evaaar!
I am sure Kidlington will not like being called a market town as it prides itself in being the largest village in Europe.
