Fun facts

Interestingly it could be argued that just four of the top three search results for the whole one letter alphabet are not brands. We have also explored (in the name of science) what happens if you enter inappropriate words and Google has responsibly hidden the instant results so a user deliberately has to press enter.

Surprisingly the Google Instant UK alphabet does not include any British place names but Zante gets a mention within the top 10 results for Z.

YouTube gets two entries as you may have noticed as one is spelt wrongly and Facebook has benefitted from the same mistake. Within the top 10 results for 'a' is ‘acebook' which links to the popular social networking site.

The only celebrities mentioned in the top 10 search suggestions for the alphabet are two girls beginning with K: Katy Perry and Katie Price.

In a Google versus Apple showdown, we've spotted 5 Google mentions and 4 Apple (including products) mentions in the top 10 Alphabet single letter suggestions.

Interestingly the weather gets four mentions (out of the top 10 suggestions for the single letters of the alphabet) perhaps showing Brits' obsession with rain, while there are 9 food shops listed, including 2 takeaways- KFC and Pizza Hut.

And in case you were wondering, HEXUS is the fourth entry if you enter ‘hex'.

So in the 260 results, there were 4 Apple?

How many microsoft, given that their market share is about 25 times?

On mine, 8 of the top 10 are “MSN” (Microsoft Network) and the other 2 are for sites relating to MSN (the Wiki entry and ebuddy).

The search suggestions gives the results Hexus list, but the Google Instant results are all Microsoft.
These results change all the time due to trending topics. A few months ago, Lady Gaga was undoubtedly under “L”, and in a few more months, Katy Perry will be ousted from “K”. It's weird how year after year Katie Price remains a perpetually popular search term.
