Thousands down, tens of thousands more to go
Amongst the now friendless low-lifes is a man convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy, another who raped a two-year-old girl, and a third convicted of sexual misconduct against a 10-year-old girl, according to New York Daily News.
The paper also claimed that of the 3,533 offenders booted from the sites, 659 were from New York City and 328 hailed from Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties.
Although the move could be seen as reassuring to some, others point out that there are some are 30,000 convicted sex offenders in New York alone and only 8,100 of them bothered to provide the authorities with their online details leaving some 21,900 unaccounted for.
When asked about this, the Division of Criminal Justice Services said the remainder of the sexual fiends were either back in prison, homeless, didn't have computer access, or didn't respond.
Didn't respond? How convenient. How about giving them a little poke on Facebook to remind them?
