In other Google news, it would also appear the firm's long rumoured Chrome OS for netbooks may come out as early as next week, after being announced in July.

When it was announced, Google said it would make the operating system's source code available later in the year and it appears we could be getting a glimpse of it very soon indeed.

The OS, built on a Linux foundation, is purportedly so stripped down that it has only a window manager and a Chrome web browser, with the OS applications running straight out of the browser itself - ideal for super quick netbook booting time.

Google has said the apps will be cross-compatible with other standards-compliant browsers on other platforms too.

Google has been working with the likes of Acer, Asus, and HP on its Chrome OS, as well as Lenovo, Adobe, Freescale, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments, but the first commercial systems based on the product aren't expected before the second half of 2010, meaning if next week's rumoured release happens, it will likely be a Beta.
